New Job!
This actually happened 2 weeks ago, but I didn't start until Monday of this week. I suppose I haven't posted about it because I've really been torn between excitment and feeling like I betrayed my old work place
I think now that's it's actually happened, I'm done with regret and ready to settle in again.
I now a Technician I for the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory for the Veternary Medical Teaching Hospital at Texas A&M University. Whoohoo!
Pros:
in my field (biology, and one of my favorite biology subjects as well)
lots of benefits
"real" job
room for advancement anywhere in the university system
Cons:
have to buy a parking tag
have to get to work on time at 8:00 am
one hour lunch break instead of one and a half
still work weekends and holidays
don't get hang out with my old coworkers anymore :(
Also exciting this week: Pet Sitting.
One cat and one dog in our house in addition to our own adorable Meep.
All from different homes, so everybody's trying to get to know each other.
Right now I'm not sure if the dog is stalking the cats or the cats are stalking the dogs.
Lucy the dog is doing great. Not overly interested in the cats, so they are feeling better about being around her. Gaby the cat is meowing for pets, but she has to come to you, although she doesn't mind coming near the dog so much (she had a foster dog brother at one point, I believe). I managed to pry Meep off of me onto the back of the sofa, and after careful observation, she even came to sit on the coffee table a mere yard from the dog, so I think she's doing really well. To complicate the issue, I've been scolding Gaby for scratching the carpet, so I put a little cracknip on the scratcher thing to lure her to it... but there's been no scratching, only rubbing. And of course Meep's an addict, but fortunately there was no drug-related violence. Meep may be intimidated by Gaby's obvious bravery around Lucy.
I forgot how much dogs licked, but I think we will all get along smashingly and perhaps learn a little inter-species tolerance.
Merry Christmas!

Cool, glad you got a job in an area you enjoy.
Good to hear about the job and I'm glad it seems like Lucy is having a good time. And she's not called "Lucy the Licker" for nothing ;)
